We all need to protect ourselves in a variety of ways.
1. Self defense keeps you safe on the streets.
2. Anti-viral software keeps you safe while online.
3. Having an alarm system keeps you safe at home.
There’s another type of protection you need to know for your business. You need to protect your ideas from being stolen by others who don’t have the same level of integrity as you do.
You may have told a friend, who then (unknowingly) tells a person who steals your idea (workout, program, book, system, etc) and gets to market first. Oooops! All of your hard work will be lost.
Sometimes it’s not bad intent, just bad timing!
A person with similar experience as you may get the same idea at roughly the same time. If they do THE RIGHT THINGS FIRST, you are out of luck.
So, what do you do?
1. Don’t tell anyone about your ideas until you’ve protected yourself. You protect yourself by registering the domain name (.com) of the program/system/course you want to create. (Even if it’s just a concept right now).
2. Do the “Poor Man’s Trademark Protection.” Write all of the details of your plan/program/system on a document and have it notarized and then mail it to YOURSELF and NEVER open it. It will have the notary stamp and the date the mail was sent. You now have proof of when “inception” began.
3. Move fast. As the saying goes “Money Loves Speed.” Well, so does success with getting your concept to market. You must move fast and execute. When you hustle, you will likely outwork others who may be at your heels.
4. Take one step RIGHT NOW to protect yourself.
Thanks for your time,
JSE
PS – Start with registering your web address/domain. It is the fastest and easiest way to get moving. Another person cannot take your exact idea if you already own the .com (and .net, etc). Here’s the link to get started >>>
