Yep!
I’m a fan of new technology. I use text messaging, social media, mobile marketing, video, articles, press releases and even this fancy new blog. But, let’s not forget what has always worked and continues to work. WARNING: You need to do it right >>>
If you’ve followed my work for any length of time, you know I get excited about new stuff. A lot of it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. However, one this has always worked, and always will. EMAIL! Yes, the rules have changed, but it can be the single best form of communication and income creation for any online business.
Here’s how you make email marketing work for you:
1. Make sure you always get permission to send someone an email. Okay, let’ me clarify… you can send a single personal and single email without their permission. However, you cannot add them to any list and blast them without permission. That’s SPAM , and that’s not cool.
2. I have found that sending an email that is written in small paragraphs, or short, simple sentences works best.
3. Keep a good balance of cool, free stuff with no pitching, and promotional emails.
4. Use an enticing subject line. Controversy works well.
5. Be careful of using too many words that flag SPAM filters, i.e, MLM, free, gift, make money, lose weight.
6. If you are using an opt-in box to grow your list, have a compelling offer to get them to exchange their email for the info. On this blog (on the home page) I give you a training video that teaches you how to make $20,000/month with your fitness and coaching business. Cool, eh?
7. Your autoresponders should be spaced far enough apart so that people don’t feel bombarded. I suggest an autoresponder every 3-5 days in a sequence for up to a month or so. This will always depend on your personal business model. Oh, by the way…. if you are asking, “What is an autoresponder?”…. here is the answer: An autoresponder is a single or multiple automated email follow-up system that you design to send information, registration details, sales offers or diet tips, etc to your prospects or customers.
8. Keep your list engaged, and communicate on topics that interest them most.
9. Respect the privacy of your list.
10. When possible or needed, ask the opinion of your list on relevant topics. This help them feel important (as they are), and you learn how to best serve them.
Email is still king. Let me explain why.
1. Email is cost effective and provides a high return on your investment.
2. Email provides you with a huge amount of metric data.
3. Email can be (and should be) permission based
4. Email is easy to implement
5. Email is highly targeted
6. Email is a great relationship builder
7. Email provides a high response rate
8. The Email list you create is an asset
The time is now for you to grow your business. Don’t let another day go by where you are stuck in a rut. You need to do what is necessary right now to take your business to the next level and having an email marketing strategy is the way.
