MY #1 Success Tip

MY #1 Success Tip

Are you wondering what it is?

There are so many ways to become more successful in life. Some strategies are better than others, and some are overrated.

I won’t make you wait any longer….. It’s “consistency over time”.

Were you looking for something sexier, or more creative?

Who wins an Olympic Gold Medal?
The person who was consistent over time.

Who do you recognize most often on social media?
The person who is consistent over time.

Which insurance comes to mind when you think of a TV commercial?
The company who is consistent over time.

Which friend do your value/trust most?
The person who was consistent over time.

So, why does consistency matter most for success?

There are many reasons, and here are the most important aspects:

1. Consistency over time keeps you from starting back at zero each time you practice a skill. Daily or weekly consistency practice lets you more easily build on your recent foundation.  This allows for faster skill development.

2. Consistency shows others that you are serious about the mastery of a skill or talent.

3. Consistency is ideal for relationship building. People want you to be consistent with your kindness and willingness to help/serve.

4. Consistency equates to dependability.

5. Consistency makes your challenges seem more effortless because your consistent behavior puts your on “success autopilot”.

6. Consistency is especially important in business. Restaurants, for example, must be consistent, because customers come in expecting the same good food all the time. If they slip up even one day, they lose customers. That’s why trust is built upon the foundation of consistency.

7. Consistency allows for proper measurement. Until you have tried something new for a period of time, and in a consistent manner, you can’t decide if it works or not.  How do you measure effectiveness if what you are measuring isn’t performed consistently?

8. Consistency maintains your message over time. Your team pays more attention to what you do as compared to what you say. Consistency in your leadership serves as a model for how they will behave.

So, what do you do now?

a) Be honest about your consistency.  If it’s terrible. Be honest.
b) Ask your most honest friends, family, and team members how you can become more consistent, and in what areas.
c) Dedicate yourself to the process of consistency.
d) Make consistency fun. Build upon your previous effort/foundation.

One thing that I should mention is this… Consistency is simply dedication to what matters most. You are either in or out. You either have dedication, or you do not.

If it’s important enough, you will be consistent.

If you continue to lack consistency, you simply don’t think the task/skills/outcome is important enough.

Yes, it’s this simple!
