If it No Longer Serves You... Update Your Brain's Software

Hello,

Think back for a moment…

What did you used to think was really important, and now never crosses your mind (until just prompted like now)?

What did you think you couldn’t live without until you did live without it?

What are the things in your life that – at one point – had great meaning, and now are a vague memory?

What car did you need to have, and now you’ll be glad when it’s sold?

What about all the “stuff” you collected over the years, that you now want to donate or throw away?

Isn’t it funny (or weird) how something that used to be important has little or no importance now?

This is why it is so important to always assess and reassess your goals and current ambitions.  You need to update your thoughts and how they associate with things, places and experiences. If something isn’t serving you in a positive way, it may be time to let it go, donate it, sell it or move away.

As an example, my twin brother is preparing to retire from the fire department and move to Nashville. The things he once thought were important have much less value now.  His entire life is changing. Now his focus is on woodworking and fishing. He wouldn’t have focused on that (or even thought of that) 15 years ago.

We often update the software on our computer and phone.  When is the last time you updated the software of your mind with fresh ideas, resources, and strategies for the next year, 2 years and 5 years of your life?  Long term strategic planning is what yields the best results.

Fresh ideas and perspective (even on old things) can really be helpful.

When is the last time you really paused to assess your current habits, goals, rituals, and behaviors so you can get a better result?

Here’s a simple plan for you:

1. Assess each aspect of your life. Let go of whatever doesn’t serve you or make you happy.

2. Sell or donate anything that is outdated and doesn’t have the “value” it used to possess.

3. Be honest about how you want to spend your time each day. If something detracts from that goal, let it go.

4. Focus on a business which gives you the time and freedom to pursue new goals in your life.

5. Realize it’s okay to change your mind about what you think is important.

That’s it.

I’m here to support you.
