What Is Slow Travel?

The term “slow travel” is self-explanatory. However, it evolved from the Slow Food Movement that began in Italy in 1980. The Slow Food Movement a protest against the opening of McDonald’s in Rome and the advance of fast food. The main objective behind slow food moment was to protect the regional cuisine, communal meal, local farming and traditional food making methods.
From then on, new and different “Slow Movements” started emerging in different areas of the world in order to maintain a connection with the culture of a particular place. These slow movements often emphasized food, families and in our case travel.
Slow travel is a mindset rather than a particular way of traveling. Slow travelers explore a destination completely and experience the full essence of their culture rather than jam-packing an itinerary and taking a short trip.
Slow travel is a great option for entrepreneurs and digital nomads. It provides the time to deeply explore a new city or country, as well as the time and space to earn an income that will afford you additional travel.
