If you’ve been living ‘sticks and bricks”, with high-speed cable internet, you probably don’t have a firm grasp on how much data you’ve been using every day. The activities you enjoy the most online, such as streaming videos and downloading music, burn up more data than you realize.

HD quality uses about 0.9GB for 720, 1.5GB for 1080 and 3GB for 2K per hour.
UHD quality video uses tons of data. 4K video streaming uses about 7.2GB per hour!

Choosing an inexpensive data plan that works in the city, may ultimately cost you more if you don’t have any coverage at all, where you want to be.
Map Your Travel Routes Along Your Cell Coverage
First of all, compare where you want to camp, with your carrier’s coverage map. A lack of coverage doesn’t mean you can’t camp there, but it may limit your stay. If your goal is to work online while on the road, choose the roads where you can get 4G coverage.
Invest in a Cell Booster
While not cheap, a cell booster can come in handy, in areas with weak coverage. These can range in price from under $200 to more than $500. Keep in mind, this investment can be a tax deduction if you’re running a small, digital business from your RV.
