For this story, I’m just going to call him “Bob”.
I hadn’t seen Bob for about a year although we speak periodically on the phone and Facebook messenger.
He spends most of his time in Thailand, Vietnam, Costa Rica, Singapore, and Europe. Very seldom does he return to the U.S.
Bob only works 2-3 hours a day. The rest of his day is divided between relaxing, lifting weights, training Muay Thai, and eating incredible food for pennies on the dollar.
I’m sure you’ve heard stories like this before and wondered if it’s all BS, or can it really be done?
The short answer is that some people are just full of “poop.” And there are also many hundreds of thousands of people who do enjoy this lifestyle and have done so for years.
Here’s Bob’s backstory…
Bob used to live in a very affluent neighborhood. He had a million dollar home, a boat, a sports car, and even a small plane.
Many people would call it “the good life.” For some people, it may be. For others, it can become a self-improved hell full of stress keeping all the balls in the air.
In 2008, the economy changed and Bob was one of the millions of people who lost a lot, if not close to everything.
Bob got tired of the entire “keeping up with the Jone’s” mentality and the all-too-prideful “hustle bro” attitude shared by people in his circle.
Bob took what mattered most; his brains, healthy body, his creativity, and his desire help others, and began to travel the world and rebuild his life.
He had extensive experience in real estate, finance, and fitness. He established himself in South East Asia and Latin America as the go-to person for real estate investments and funding such investments. As for fitness, he’s incredibly fit, and also trains some clients on the side.
He built his brand by developing his online presence with Facebook, Linkedin, and even a podcast. He put boots on the ground and built a network of people in each country for referrals and quality relationships.
He continued to build his brand and share his knowledge by creating his own online expert empire.
Fast forward to today…
Bob doesn’t make as much as he did when he was in the affluent American neighborhood. It doesn’t matter. His cost of living is 80% LESS than it used to be. And he works 70% LESS.
He uses the power of the Internet to help him build a real estate portfolio and other investments which allows him to live a better life. This could not have been done if he continued to “keep up with the Jone’s” and live in a high tax and high regulation area of the U.S.
NOTE: I understand that not everyone wants to live in a different country. I understand that not everyone crashed hard in 2008. And, I understand that each of us earns a living in a very unique way.
Most importantly, I know for certain that YOU can build a lifestyle business that gives you the freedom and resources you want to enjoy more of each day we have on Earth.
