Packing as a digital nomad can be a daunting task. You know you are in for an extended traveling phase and so packing for it should be accordingly. Packing light or heavy should not be the aim, packing essentially the right items at the right time should be the aim.

People who have traveled long enough as digital nomads exactly know what to pack for the excursion and what all to carry in their luggage to meet any unexpected situation. Before you start packing, be sure you pack fewer clothes and the ones you love because you will have a laundry facility so it is pointless to load your luggage with a lot of clothes. The following items are suggested for you to carry as a digital nomad when you take your work to remote locations.
1) IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS FOR TRAVELING
Traveling to various destinations one has to ensure that they have a valid passport and enough space on it too. There should be a valid ID card with the latest picture and other no objection documents if required. Moreover, if you are on a prescribed medication then you must carry with your doctor’s prescription supporting your medicine. You should also have all your credit and debit cards running smoothly with international roaming activated on it.
2) COMFORTABLE FOOTWEAR
Since you will have to commute by walking mostly, so a comfortable pair of shoes is a must have for all the digital nomads. Not only, runners, but you must also have a pair of flip flops, fashion trainers, a pair of formal shoes and boots as well so as to cover the minimum basic requirement of everyday use. Make sure whatever shoes you pick are convenient and comfortable yet durable so as to not trouble you any time of your travel.
3) CLOTHING ESSENTIALS
The choice of clothes you pack for your destination depends on a lot of factors such as the weather, the places and the events you are likely to go to and the nightlife in the city. Keeping into consideration all these factors you must select the clothes you really need and will utilize in your next travel destination and avoid loading yourself with unnecessary clothing items.
However, there are essential picks that are a must have in your bag which includes outer layer clothing such as a waterproof jacket for rainy days and a lightweight jacket to keep you warm when it starts getting cold.
The main clothing items are essentials which include a couple of shirts and tops, some dresses for the when the sun is shining bright, skirts, denim and some loose trousers, sportswear for desperate times and also two pair of swimsuits for a beach day. A travel trip without your favorite toiletries will be a trip wasted, isn’t it? Make sure you don’t pack the toiletries that are easily available at your travel destination rather pack the ones that you can’t do without or are not easily available in your country of travel. You can buy a lot of toiletries once you land but for travel purpose, you can carry mini size moisturizer, shampoo, and body mists. Also if you have hair styling products then you must get a supply of those to last you your entire trip.
For women, makeup is an essential item. But don’t just weight your bags down with tons of it, take a considerable amount of makeup and go with products that are multipurpose. Some lip shades, eye shades, foundation, and concealer should do the job for you along with the basic makeup equipment.
5) FIRST AID
Everyone is prone to get an injury or an upset stomach during their travel which is why it is advisable to keep a bag of first aid with you all the time which should have band-aids, paracetamol, anti-allergy and medicine for an upset stomach. Other than this, you should carry any prescribed medicine that you have to take for what so ever ailment along with the prescription. If you are all for herbal treatments then do keep some hers in your first aid for an outbreak of flu.
6) OTHER MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
You might want to keep with you a beach towel for desperate times, a disposable water bottle for when it gets too hot and you want to stay hydrated, extra earphones and phone charger in case of emergency along with a small sewing kit.
7) SOMETHING YOU LOVE
Since you will be traveling for a long period of time and you will be away from your family and friends, make sure you keep something you love that reminds you of your family and home. This could be anything from jewelry to pictures or a perfume that you have an emotional attachment with. So when you too homesick and you get sad about life away from home, you have something to cherish and reminiscence the time you spent with your loved one.
Other than the items mentioned, you might want to keep a sleeping bag for times that you want to work star gazing including all the essential gadgets such as your iPod, Kindle, laptop, and tablet that takes you through the remote work life smoothly. Happy traveling!
